Barite/barite powder
Barite is a non-metallic mineral product with barium sulfate (BaSO4) as raw material, which is chemically stable, insoluble in water and hydrochloric acid, non-magnetic and toxic.
The specific gravity of our barite powder and barite block is 4.1-4.2+.
In some oil and gas Wells, the weight of drilling mud is generally low.
Sometimes mud weight cannot balance with underground oil and gas pressure, which can lead to a blowout accident.
In the case of high underground pressure, adding barite powder to the mud to increase the specific gravity of the mud is an effective measure to prevent blowout.
The fineness of barite used in drilling mud should be greater than 325 mesh.
If the barite is not fine enough, it is easy to precipitate.
The barite used in drilling mud is required to have a specific gravity of more than 4.2, the content of BaSO4 is not less than 95%, and the soluble salt content is less than 1%.
